We run strategy workshops that involve the whole management team. Each person has a unique perspective that is important in shaping the future of the business. And when you involve people fully in discussions, they take ownership of both ideas and actions. They know what they need to do and why, and are motivated to do it.
Time for talking – and time for thinking
Our strategy programmes include two workshops, held a few weeks apart. During the first workshop, we take you through a series of structured discussions using a range of strategic planning tools. You consider your business from different angles, share ideas, and uncover new insights. By the end of the day, you will have a draft set of goals and priority actions. But that’s just the starting point. It’s what happens next that ensures your final plan will be the best possible blend of ideas and the most likely to be effective.
As you go about your normal work over the following few weeks, you’ll be reflecting on what you discussed. This thinking time gives everyone a chance to process the ideas, to see which ones they believe are workable, and to come up with new ideas sparked by the workshop discussions.
We then regroup for a second workshop. Here, we review what we have come up with and agree on what direction to take.You finish the day with a core set of strategic goals plus a list of key actions.
Time for action
The group agree the actions, and make sure that against each one it is noted who is responsible for what, and when it will be done by. This creates a robust action plan that individuals are committed to and will work hard to put into practice.
